STEP 1

Command line next to code

A terminal is a place where you can write commands to a computer. In VS Code, it opens through Terminal → New Terminal.

✦ By default, the terminal starts working in the project folder.

STEP 2

Check the installed Python

At the terminal, enter py -3 --version on Windows or python3 --Zversion on macOS/Linux. This is the version of Python.
